Vumawimbi Beach

Stepping onto Vumawimbi, you may need to rub your eyes to check you haven’t gone to heaven, so idyllic is the view. Vumawimbi is one of the best places to relax, with brilliant white sand beaches lapped by the warm turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean, providing the perfect place to relax, soak up the sun, and take a break from busy sightseeing. This wonderful beach is located approximately 55km from Chake Chake, stretching along the eastern side of the Kigomasha Peninsula, and north of the Ngezi Forest Reserve. Vumawimbi Beach is currently considered the longest beach in East Africa with beautiful white sand.

This isolated stunning site is located in Micheweni District. Not many outsiders come here, as all the hotels are on the west side. Vumawimbi Beach has now become one of the most popular sites for picnics and day trips among the local people and tourists in Pemba island. With good resorts on the peninsula’s west shore and the beautiful palm-fringed beach stretching along the east at Kigomasha Peninsula in Pemba’s northwestern corner, Micheweni is now one of the best places to stay. Some of the resorts found nearby are The Manta Resort and Gecko Lodge.
